    Alternative Advert for Nike

Nike sees it fit to pay Michael Jordon more per year ($20 million) than it pays it's entire 30,000-strong Indoesian workforce for making them in sweat shops.

The average Indonesian worker is paid $2 per day to make a pair of Nike trainers that retail for $120 in San Francisco Nike town.

sweatshops in the Philippnes have rules against talking and smiling. There is forced overtime, but no job security - it's "no work no pay" when the orders don't come in. Toilets are padlocked except during two 15 minute breaks per day otherwise employees have to urinate into plastic bags under their sewing machines.

A pair of $180 training shoes cost $5 to make.

It's funny how they never feel the urge to put these statistics in their shiny, wholesome adverts.....

Hey.... I lived in San Francisco when they opened the first Nike Town. We were there for the opening.... what a sight. I have it all on video tape... the streets were filled with a parade of customers lined up for blocks, herds of protesters, police, passers by, and looky-loos such as ourselves. It was an atmosphere fit for a party, only the vibe was NEGATIVO! And as well it should be.

    And did it help......

    Not in the least....

Seven floors of Nike overdosage... right down to the the bolts in the walls and elevator buttons....Nike symbols emebeded everywhere.

But what does that logo REALLY symbolize?

Oh and Mel... try watching some of Micheal Moore's documentaries. They are great... he tackles problems like this. I believe he even confronted the CEO of Nike or something. Ever hear of him?
